Hey Teens! (See my For Teens Page!)

Welcome to my site, and thanks for visiting! We’re going to talk THERAPY!

Here’s the thing: therapy is actually really cool. I wish I had realized it as a teenager, because I saw a few (A LOT of) therapists myself!

Life is hard—and being a teenager is extra hard. You are living in a changing body—your body, your brain and your hormones are adjusting—and you’re in a world that doesn’t always recognize and support how trying that can be. You don’t have a ton of control over your world and environments, and that can definitely suck. But you have control over YOU and the decisions YOU MAKE! Sometimes, it helps to have some extra help with that stuff, someone besides your parents, who you can confide in and trust, who can help support you as the awesome individual you are. And I do believe that whether or not you know it right now, you are awesome. You have strengths and talents and gifts inside you—some of which are waiting to be found, explored and helped to grow and blossom.

Now, you may be struggling with various things from friendships, motivation, family, school, past traumas, to depression, anxiety or perhaps you have received a mental health diagnosis (or suspect you might be struggling with mental illness). There is no shame in these things, and no shame in having help, guidance and support. And that’s what I’m here for!

What do you do in therapy?

I do lots of things from art therapy, to narrative (writing), to general talk, problem solving and emotional support. We find your style and groove, and we go from there! I do in-person sessions, telehealth sessions (via video chat on phone or computer) and experiential sessions out in the world!

There are no off-limits topics with me, and I am all about embracing who you are as a person.

Some things teens might want to talk to me about:

  • Feelings of Depression, or a “down” mood that seems to plague you
  • Feelings of Anxiety, or nervousness in various situations, or regarding various topics.
  • Relationships—both friendship, romantic and otherwise
  • Sexuality and gender exploration and questioning. Both of these things are a spectrum, and there are no right or wrong answers here!
  • Big life decisions and moments- College, sex, drugs, alcohol, grades—let’s talk it out!
  • Self development—Are you wanting to find yourself? Discover who you really are? Your authentic self, filled with gifts for the world?
  • Thoughts of suicide

There are many more topics that could come up, and nothing is off limits

Hey Parents!

I employ unique and effective methods in working with and engaging youth. As a clinician, I believe that the development of a strong, trusting and empowering therapeutic relationship is vital to the experiential change brought about through therapy. In my practice with youth, I am able to offer not only my therapeutic and psychological training for conducive treatment, but also deep understanding and personal experience with childhood and adolescent clinical depression, anxiety, and mental illness. As an authentic, transparent and bold clinician, I am able to both nurture and challenge teens in working through mental illness and finding their best selves. In addition to talk therapy, I utilize a number of engaging therapeutic techniques including art, writing and expressions, personalized growth projects and activities and mindfulness practice. I do sessions in person, via telehealth, and experientially out in the world!

In supplement to regular therapy, I offer text plans and support, and teen therapeutic groups! I also work with parents and offer parent-youth sessions for a best collaborative family outcome with therapy.
